Roe was the bishop of Kirkjubøur on Faroe Islands 1162-1174.
He was the brother of Unas Kammaker , and fostered king Sverre Sigurdsson (1150-1202) from the age of five.
The Faroe Islands were part of the kingdom of Norway from 1035 until 1814. Norway's union with Denmark did not begin until 1380.
