"Jesse was a farmer and a joyner and was an elder in the Presbyterian church. He had the title of Esquire, an honor given in the early years. He was 5'9" tall with light hair and complexion.
He purchased the homestead in Cambridge December 25, 1800, having lived previously in Arlington VT, where he kept hotel.
Jesse fought in the Revolutionary War in the 1st Rgt. N.Y. Line, the 3rd Rgt. N.Y. Line and was with the 6th Rgt. Dutchess County Militia."
