Agur was born 17 Nov 1751 in Connecticut, the son of Stephen Fairchild. He is probably the Agur who went to Remsen, Oneida County, New York.[1]
Research Notes
In her book Early Fairchilds in North America and their Descendants, Jean Fairchild Gilmore [2] notes that for many years Agur's parents were mistakenly identified as Stephen Fairchild (born 1725 in Stratford) and his wife Lavinia Beardsley. Gilmore also notes that Agur's registered birthdate of 17 Nov 1751 conflicts with the death date of 1 Jan 1840, age 90, that appears on his headstone.[3]
