Biography

The Fargie's born in East Lothian Scotland were sometimes known as Forgie and Fergie. John Fargie's father was a gardener and John came out to Australia in 26 June 1849 exactly a year before I was born. He lived with his wife Janette nee Lumgair in Geelong until his death. He was a gardener in Geelong and also owned a hotel which after his death his wife turned into a boarding house. Both John and Janette are buried in Geelong Cemetery.
