Biography

Jesse is mentioned in his father's Will: he names Jesse, Thomas, William, Samuel, Jennet and Alexander and "all my other children not mentioned". Image of Will Transcription

Jessie appears in the 1820 York county Census as "Jessee".[1]

A postumous obituary was written for Jessie and appeared in the Rock Hill Herald in March of 1908. It is a rambling history of the family with much praise for the family being good people, "The men are upright, frugal and industrious...". In this article the writer, who served with Jesse during the Civil war and lived near him for ten years, states that Jesse's mothers name was Eliza Garrison. Certainly throws something of a monkey wrench in the name of the mother, Jennet, handed down in family histories for generations. There are other notes from Ancestry where family members have written in to correct mis-statments on the family.[2]

York County, South Carolina, USA. Buried in Old Unity Church Cemetery.

Research Notes

Jesse Faries mother is Jenet James. She appears on the marriage record with Alexander Faries. This profile has all of the information for Jesse Faries, son of Jenet James and Alexander Faries. Alexander had other brothers who lived in Deleware and stayed in Delaware. There were also brothers who moved south, to the Carolinas.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jesse by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jesse:

Faris-413 and Faries-136 appear to represent the same person because: These are the same individual - one profile has the mother as a Hall - there is no evidence of Hall as the mother's last name. Her last name is listed as James in the marriage record with Alexander, Jesse's father. Please move this merge forward.

Can you expand on this please Teresa? If the mothers LNAB is in question, is there something further that needs to be done as far as research in order to merge her son with his duplicate profile? Seems this merge should move forward and a research section be posted to his mother's profile about the name discrepancy. Unless you feel this son has a completely different mother?

Hi, during merge of son only one mother can be selected. I didn't want to presume given when I look at the mother's one has father of Hall. I think the 2 mother's have to be merged, or one removed, before the son's can be merged. Find a grave has mother LNAB of James but one of these mother's has a father attached with name of Hall. Faris-413 and Faries-136 are not ready to be merged because: Mother's LNAB is in question.
