Biography

John and Ann Zelefrow Farris lived in the Fishing Creek area of Chester/York Counties, South Carolina in the late 1700's. While their gravestones have survived, no probate information has survived listing their children. They were heavily intertwined with other families of the Fishing Creek community. From land, census, and other documents we can piece together at least some of the children of this family. They generally followed a migration pattern from Chester, SC to Bath, KY and then to Maury, TN. Some stayed in KY, and others moved from TN to Calloway, KY.

Identified, Inferred Children:

Alexander Farris and Elizabeth Lusk: Alexander moved from York, SC to Montgomery (now Bath) County, KY for about 15 years before moving to Maury, TN. His daughters Sarah and Mary Ann married here. They were associated with Springfield Presbyterian Church[1]

Marriages of both of these children are recorded in "An Historical Sketch of Springfield Presbyterian Church, Bath County, Kentucky", Pages 106 and 110, Robert Stuart Sanders, Roberts Printing Company, 1954. Some of these children married into the family of Joseph Walker of Bath County, KY.

John Farris: Moved to Bath, KY and later Maury, TN

Isaac Ferris and Elizabeth Williams: Revolutionary War Veteran. Moved to Maury, TN.

Caleb Farris: Revolutionary War Veteran. Moved to briefly to KY and then Maury, TN.

Isabel Farris and Patrick Hamilton: Moved to Bath, KY. Left many children. For list of children, see DAR applications A050249/M249366 and M643625

Jane Farris and James Robinson: Moved to Maury, TN. May have briefly stayed in KY. While the marriage record for this couple is lost, the connection is substantiated with triangulated autosomal matches of descendants of James with the Farris family[2]
