Biography

Gideon Farley was the eldest son of Drewry the settler,born on Buffalo run. He died on his farm a short distance north of Beech Spring near the top of Shockley's hill Aug 27,1863 at age of 67

Buried on the farm where he reared his large family. This fine farm was issued to him a evidence by the following "On the 8th day of June 1855, Governor Henry A. Wise issued his patent to GIDEON FARLEY by virture of warrant 21,724 for 100 acres on clays branch.When land was correctly surveyed it was 300 acres instead of 100 acres.

Gideon Farley had a quick and violent temper,whch was likely to flare up into a violent rage,to an uncontroable stage.This temper characteristic may be traced back to the vikings.
