The family of Fawcett is of some antiquity in County Durham.
Christopher Fawcett, Esq. of Lambton, co. Durham, who held lands in Chester and Boldon, a.d. 1669, d. 14 Jan. 1699-1700, leaving, by Dorothy his wife, three sons and three daus.
The 2nd son, John Fawcett, Esq., Barrister-at-Law, and Recorder of Durham, b. 1679; m. to Elizabeth, dau. of Richard Stonehewer, Esq. of Durham, and had issue:
I. Christopher, his heir.
II. Richard, D.D., Vicar of Newcastle, Rector of Gateshead, and Prebendary of Durham Cathedral, bapt. 8 Oct. 1714; m. Elizabeth Brown ; and d. 22 April, 1782, having had issue
