Name
Barnabus Fare name of birth in Germany was Johann Bernhard Fehr. He and other family members arrived in Pennsylvania in 1749. Shortly after that, the family name was anglicized as Fare or Fair, approximate homonyms of Fehr. Johann chose to be called Barnabus. There is a transcription of his will available the describes his name at the introduction of the document as “Barnabus Fair”. At the bottom, in German script is Johann Bernhard Fehr. Barnabus was born about 1728. He passed away in 1787.
