Sarah Fernance was born on 25 May 1840^[1] in Wilberforce, New South Wales, Australia as the second child of John Anthony and Elizabeth Thompson. She had ten siblings, namely: Jane, Amelia, John Anthony, Charles Thomas, Elizabeth, George Matthew, Joseph William, Mary Ann, Hannah, and Jessie. She died on 11 Apr 1934^[2] in Thornleigh, New South Wales, Australia. When she was 18, she married Frederick William Joseph Akhurst,son of William Akhurst and Jeanette Harriett Jane Taylor, on 22 Feb 1859^[3] in Wilberforce, New South Wales, Australia.
