Daniel Field was born 1709 in Oyster River, New Hampshire.[1]. His death 22 January 1778 Buxton, York Co, Maine Dist, MA. [2][3][4]
Daniel Field lived in Scarborough, Maine. Deeded land to Samuel Hayes / Haynes in 1737. Were members of the Scarboro Congregational Church as at 6 July 1740 when wife Sarah was baptised. He was a lieutenant in the Company of Capt George Berry in the Louisbourg expedition in 1745 and afterwards served as a private in the Revolutionary War.[5]
Daniel Field, private of Pepperell, Col Marshall's 10th MA Reg't; final pay at death in January 1778 was paid 40 shillings per month - as per document 15 June 1780 for Daniel Field, Private, of Pepperell from MA State Archives. His total enumeration for the service was total 25 pounds 8 which included depreciation, a share from the State Lottery, 2 shirts, 1 pair shoes, 1 pair hose. He, his son Daniel and their Redlon in-laws served at Dorchester April 1776.[6]
Daniel Field Sr's enlistment, at past the age of 60, agreement dated 23 December 1776 signed by himself as Daniel Field and 21 others engaging themselves to serve for 3 years in the American Revolution unless sooner discharged. Each agreed to carry with them into service an effective firearm, a bayonet in lieu thereof, cartridge box, knapsack, and blanket, and if no bayonet then a sword, hatchet or tomahawk. They agreed to serve under the command of the General Officers of the Forces of the United States of America.[7]
Daniel Field, of Pepperellborough, served as a private for 3 years in Capt John Elden's Company, under Col Lemuel Robinson's Regiment as per Company Return dated 26 Feb 1776 Roxbury. Following he served at Dorchester 1 April 1776, then Boston in 1777; also in Thomas' Co, Col Thomas Marshall's Reg't 1 January 1777 to January 1778, then was promoted to 2nd Sergeant in Capt Philip Thomas' Co, Col Thomas Marshall's Reg't. He was allowed rations date of enlistment, 23 December 1776 to 6 February 1777; was credited with 46 days allowance; subsistence also allowed for 11 days march from Boston to Bennington. He also served under Capt. Philip Thomas 5th Co, Col Thomas Marshall's 10th Reg't; return of men in camp on or before 15 August 1777.[8]
