Abigail was born in 1755. She was the daughter of James Finch and Abigail Seely. She was baptized in May 1755 in the New Canaan Congregational Church. [1] She passed away in 1845.
In 1839, at the age of 83, she swore out an affidavit, as part of applying for her widow's pension, attesting to her husband's service during the Revolutionary War. The affidavit is on file with the National Archives. In the affidavit, she describes, among other things, aspects of her life around the time of the American Revolution.
In the affidavit, Abigail also recalls that she and Dennis were married in 1773 by Reverend Mr. Sackett. This was likely Reverend Samuel Sackett, who was then assigned to the Red Mills Presbyterian Church in Westchester County.[2] Abigail states that the wedding was attended by John Weeks and his wife, Samuel Weeks and his wife, and Nathaniel Underwood and his wife.

Thummel's notes:
- Baptized 18 May 1755 - Thummel does not list location, but one must presume it was at Christ Church, New Caanan, Connecticut.
- No date or location given for her marriage to Dennis Hitt, "resident of Crump Pond, Westchester Co."
