Biography
Paul Finley served with Georgia during the American Revolution.
Paul Finley was born in 1762 in what was then Craven County but later became Laurens County and died in 1843. He and his brother John fought with the Georgia Provincials in the Revolutionary War.
Paul Finley is the son of John Finley of Pennsylvania. He was born in (Craven)(Laurens District) Laurens County SC. Paul served in the Revolutionary War. He and his brother John enlisted in the Georgia Provincials on August 15, 1776, when Paul was just 16.
He was married to Mary Martin on September 20, 1782, in Laurens SC. They had nine children.
His home on Cane Creek, near Waterloo, was a stage stop and inn.
Paul Finley received a pension in 1832 for his service as a private in the Georgia and South Carolina troops. [1]
Research Notes
The pension application of Paul's brother, John, includes a report that Paul, died "April 23rd, 1833 and was buried the same day".[2]
