After months of reviewing the Casalvecchio records, I am now near certain that every Fino in Casalvecchio post-1800 descended from Alesio/Alessio.

It appears most likely that Alesio/Alessio moved to Casalvecchio from elsewhere. Whether he went to ply his blacksmithing trade and then met/married Maria Giuseppa Ferrucci or he met/married her and then set up shop is unclear. The Ferrucci family has deep roots in Casalvecchio and it is now known that she was a native born child of that town.

What is clear as of 2018 is that Alesio/Alessio founded a tradition of blacksmithing that continued to his descendants for generations.

Many of Alesio & Maria Giuseppa Ferrucci's descendants migrated to the USA. Milford, Massachusetts was among the most common destinations. It appears that some significant number of their descendants stayed in Casalvecchio. A look through a recent town document about some land parcels still includes many FINO surnames:

1837 Death

UPDATE June 2022 Alesio's 1837 death record has been located. He is listed as 60 years old (B.~1777). His parents are both deceased and listed as Giordano Fini(o) and Vittoria Piccirillo. Alesio was the widow of Maria Giuseppa Ferrucci.^[2]

Alesio's birth place appears to be listed as Regnano. I can find several possibilities:

1. The village of Regnano belongs to the municipality of Casola in Lunigiana, in the province of Massa-Carrara, region Toscana. (700+km)
2. Name: Regnano/Status: Very small place-Pop: 174 people/Region : Viano-Provincia di Reggio Emilia (600-700km)
3. The village of Regnano belongs to the municipality of Tolentino, in the province of Macerata, region Marche. (325-350km)

Another possibility is the much closer (60km) Rignano Garganico which is in the province of Foggia in the Apulia region. See the 1862-1876 map clip and note that the Piccirillo family is still in the area.
