Biography

He was married to Lellah Ferrell on 29 September 1892 in Holmes County, Ohio.[1] In 1920, James and Lellah, along with their son and daughter-in-law, are living in Coshocton, Ohio.[2]

A year following his wife's death, James is living alone in Coshocton in 1930.[3]

Burial was in Valley View Cemetery, Warsaw.[4]


James J. Fischer, Former Conservation Officer, Dead at 74

James J. Fischer, 74, former Coshocton county conservation officer, died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday at the home of a son, B.J. Fischer, Alexandria, O. He had been in failing health for several years and suffered a cerebral hemorrhage a week ago.

Mr. Fischer was born at Warsaw on Sept. 24, 1871, a son of John and Mary E. Fischer. He formerly operated a meat market in Warsaw and served as conservation officer in Coshocton county for six years. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, Maccabees and Presbyterian church, all of Coshocton. For the last 12 years he had resided with his son at Alexandria.

On Sept. 29, 1892, he was married to Lelah Ferrell, who succumbed in January, 1929. Surviving are the son, B.J. Fischer; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; two brothers, N.Q. and E.P. Fischer, both of Warsaw, and a sister, Mrs. W.G. Urey of Warsaw.

Friends will be received at the son's home in Alexandria until Sunday noon. The body will then be taken to the Fischer funeral home in Warsaw, where services will be held at 2:30 Sunday. Rev. Spencer of Alexandria will officiate, and burial will be in Valley View cemetery, Warsaw.[5]
