Biography

At the time of the 1900 US Census, Harry and his brother are living with their mother in their paternal grandmother's household in Wilson Township, Missouri. Both of the women are widows.[1]
Harry is listed as Frank Macklin's stepson in the 1910 Census[2]
12 Sep 1918: Harry is 20 years old and registers for the World War I Draft in Adair County, Missouri. He lists his mother -- Violet Macklin -- as his next of kin. He indicates that he works as a shoe maker for the International Shoe Co. in Kirksville, Missouri. He is of medium height and build with brown eyes and black hair.[3]
Harry is married in 1920 and continues living in Kirksville, Missouri. His wife's name is "Gussie."[4]
By 1930, Harry and Gussie are living in Kansas City, Missouri. Harry lists a brother, George, in his household. George's birth year is given as 1901, and he says he was born in Texas. His father's birthplace is given as England, and his mother's as Alabama. None of this information matches up with either Frank Macklin or Violet (Unknown) Fiscus Macklin. Harry's half-brother, George, was born in 1909 in Missouri, and his father was born in Iowa; his mother in Missouri.[5]
At the time of the 1940 US Census, Harry and Gussie are living in Gallatin Township, Clay County, Missouri. Harry's father-in-law, Benjamin Sale, is also living with them. There have never been any children listed in their household.[6]
Harry was living in Clay County, Missouri when he passed away in August 1971 at the age of 73.[7]
