Biography
Simon was the "brother of Walter and son of Alan" according to a charter establishing the Monastery at Paisley around 1162 or 1163.[1] This is the only contemporary source for Simon. No last name was cited in the source, either.
Simon is purported to be the progenitor of the Boyd Family in Scotland by some Boyd-centric sources whereas other researches dismiss this Boyd connection. He is also perhaps in half (uterine) brother or Walter.
William P. Boyd in "History of the Boyd family and descendants" (1912) indicates Simon is the third son of Alan, but goes on to name another sibling (Adam) not found in other sources.[2]
Ramsburgh (1923) cites Alan FitzWalter as a parent, but mistakenly has an incorrect date of death for Walter and has Simon as High Steward of Scotland, which he was certainly. [3]
Alternative parentage and connection to Boyd Clan
Barrow (1980) - suggests he was the son of a second husband Robert Fitz Walter. [4]
Wikipedia article on the Boyd Clan discusses other origin theories for the Boyds. [5]

I believe you have Walter attached to the wrong parents. According to the Wikipedia link you have as a source, "Simon may have been a son of Avelina de Hesdin and her second husband, Robert fitz Walter." That's not who he's presently attached to...
Also, the link referencing the charter appears to be broken (at least I can't get to it). Could you add the text of the charter?
FitzWalter-133 and FitzAlan-646 appear to represent the same person because: Give fathers name of Alan, FitzAlan would be most logical surname. FitzAlan-646 is well researched. FitzWalter-133 is an unsourced duplicate with no conflicting information.
Boyd-784 and FitzAlan-646 appear to represent the same person because: Simon has been researched and all source information placed into FitzAlan-646. There is no conflicting information between, the sourced and unsource profile.
