James Fleming was a son to Sir John Fleming, 2nd Lord Fleming.[1] He is not noticed in Crawford's work "The Peerage of Scotland".[2]
Balfour Paul attributes his mother as Euphame Drummond, his first wife; this is shown on wikitree.
He was Page-of-honour to the King (James V) and received a charter, for his service, on 4 April 1532, under the Great Seal, of the lands of Henderland, and Sunderland, which had been forfeited by William Cockburn and fallen to the King.[3] This likely occurring when he came of age and thus born c. 1510. This presents an issue with his mother; simply noted here. Euphame Drummond was poisoned, along with two of her sisters, in 1502, and Fleming married Margaret Stewart c. 1505. While this was an unusual relationship, she raped and they divorced and remarried, they finally separated in 1515. She must have been the mother if James is legitimate.
He does not appear in source material after this date.
