José Fontinhas is Notable.

José Fontinhas, known as Eugénio de Andrade was a Portuguese poet, one of the leading names in contemporary Portuguese poetry.

José Fontinhas was born in Póvoa de Atalaia on the 19th of January 1923.

José had his first book Narciso published in 1939. He later dropped his real name and switched to the pseudonym Eugénio de Andrade.

Research Notes

Served in the military in Coimbra, and then spent 35 years as an administrative inspector for the Ministry of Health. He later traveled extensively and authored several literary works which earned him acclaim.
