Legralda Forrest was born in Scotland about 1714. She married Moses Mercer about 1736. Children born to this marriage include Nicholas, Nathaniel, Forrester, Richard, Edward, Jones, and Jane. Moses and other male relatives fought in the Jacobite Rebellion (1745-46) and were on the losing side in the Battle of Culloden Moor (16 Apr 1746). Subsequently Moses and his family fled to Ireland and later to America. The family settled first in Pennsylvania, where Legralda died in 1780. The place of death and burial are not known.
