Jean Fougère[1][2] was born Sep 13, 1684 in in Poupry-en-Beauce (within the diocese of Orléans), Orléanais (today Poupry, Eure-et-Loir), France. He was the son of Jean Fougère and Marie Barré.
He married first Marie Bourg, daughter of Abraham Bourg and Marie Brun 27 November 1713, at Port-Royal. The bride made her mark as did Pierre Brossard. The father of the bride signed, as did Pierre Allain.[3][4][1]. They had:

He married second Marie-Madeleine Belliveau, daughter of Jean Belliveau and Cecile Melanson about 1728 in Port-Toulouse, île Royale[1]. They had:

He died about 1750 in Port-Toulouse, île Royale, Acadia[5]. He moved from France to Acadia in about 1698[6]. In Feb 5,1709, there is a record that he was living in Port-Royal, Acadia[7][8] and in 1722, 1724, and 1726. He was a navigator, farmer-fisherman ("navigateur, habt-pêcheur") (as a navigator, in Port Toulouse, he employed 3 men in 1724 and 8 in 1726)[1][7][8]
