Aubrey Floyd Franklin was born 03 Jan 1921 in Mitchell County, Texas to Walker Berry Franklin and Laura Posey.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
He enlisted on 25 Jul 1942 for the duration of the War during WWII.[8][3]
Aubrey married Hazel LaRue Knight[9][10][4] on 21 Dec 1946[11][12] and the couple had the following known children:
Jimmie Don Franklin was born 06 Nov 1947 in Lubbock County, Texas.[9]
Rickey Floyd Franklin was born 25 Jan 1955 in Lubbock County, Texas.[10]
Oklahoma's 1952 traffic toll caught up last year's bloody record Friday when a Jacksonville, Ill airforce private was killed in a truck-car collision near Erick. The victim, Pvt. Richard L. Herring, 21, stationed at the Amarillo, Texas airforce base, was the state's 51st this year. Herring was a passenger in a car driven by John Williams, 31, Petersburg, Texas. Williams was taken to an Erick hospital where his injuries were described as not serious. Aubrey Floyd Franklin, 31, Abernathy, Texas, another passenger, was injured seriously. The accident occurred when the car tried to pass a tanker gas truck as it was making a left-hand turn off US 66, four miles west of Erick, highway trooper Elmer Williams said. The car smashed into the side of the tank truck, overturned four times and landed in the center of the highway on its top. Lamnin Coy Callen, 32, Erick, drive of the truck, escaped with minor injuries.[13]
Aubrey died 02 Dec 1964 at Hale Center, Hale County, Texas and is buried in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery, Lubbock, Lubbock county, Texas.[3][4][6]
On 26 Oct 2018 I received an eMail from Peter den Tek, Chairman of the Allied Airmen Foundation 06-28871626, in the Netherlands who had a bracelet brought to him by someone seeking more information about it. The bracelet belonged to Aubrey Floyd Franklin.[14]
