Biography

Benjamin Louis [1] or Lewis[2] Franklin was born 17 October 1860 in Charleston, Hopkins County, Kentucky.[3][4][5][6][7] [2][1] He was the son of Finis Franklin and Sarah E (Wilson) Franklin.[3][4][8][9]

He married Jeffie Davis Mason on 11 September 1879 in Madisonville, Hopkins, Kentucky.[6][10] According to the referenced book, they had eleven children including two twin boys not named. [3] In the 1900 U.S. Census, Jeffie was recorded as the the mother of 9 children, 8 living.[5] They had the following known children:

  4. Ruby Wilson Franklin [5]
  5. Della Mabel Franklin [5]

Jeffie passed away in 1904, and Benjamin married Mrs. Lora Virginia (Downing) Martin on 27 November 1907 in Princeton, Caldwell County, Kentucky.[7]. They had two daughters:

  1. Thelma L Franklin
  2. Lilith Franklin

He lived in Charleston, Hopkins, Kentucky most of his life, where he conducted a successful mercantile business for 53 years. [3]

His death resulted from a coronary occlusion. He was buried in the Rosedale Cemetery, Dawson Springs, Hopkins County, Kentucky.[2][1][11]
