Biography

Nils Rasmusson , Frette was born in 1705. He was the first son of Rasmus Nilsson Frette and and Ragnahild (Ragnilla) Eriksdater (~1684-1755). He lived in Vinje from 1720 to 1743 and moved to Maldal in the county of Sauda. In 1756, after his father's death, Nils inherited Garden Frette and moved back to Frette.

He first married Sigri Olsdotter (1676-1762), widow of Hans Rasmusson, Halland. They had no children.

In 1765, He married Guri Torrisdotter (1747-1785). She was born in Holmeldal (Skanevik County). They had 3 children:

1. Rasmus Nillsn Frette (1766-1837) m Ragna Sakariasdotter Frette
2. Siri Nilsdotter Fjerde (1767-1852) m Jon Olsson Gjerde
3. Tøorris Nillson Frette (11784- ) m Synneva Frette

Research Notes

Nils had a farm in Vinja from late 1720's to 1743. In 43' he moved to Maldal in Sauda and stayed here until his father died in 1756 when he moved to Frette. When he moved back to Frette his step-son Christen was the owner. Nils and Christen had quite a few quarrels with each other, for instance Nils have said that Christen spoke too freely about the use of witchcraft and that his general speech was indecent. They also had a few issues that ended up in court, issues that for instance was about land. He married the widow of Hans in the age of 22.^[1]
