On 14 Oct 1771, Samuel was the first of Martha (Dodge) Friend & Benjamin Friend's children to be born at Naskeag, Lincoln, MBC (aka Blue Hill). A year earlier, in the spring of 1770, Phineas Friend, Samuel's older brother, was born in Beverly, Essex, Massachusetts Bay Colony (MBC). By the spring of 1771, Benjamin & Martha Friend (possibly Phineas Friend also) had relocated to MBC Land Grant #4 (aka Naskeag, Lincoln County, MBC), now know as Sedgwick, Hancock, Maine. Samuel's father, Benjamin Friend, would be very busy in the Naskeag, MBC, there was 300 acres of land to clear, build homes for 60 families, erect a meeting house & settle a minister, all within 6 years.
In 1790, Benjamin Friend's family was one of nearly 100 families listed in the Census. By 1800, Benjamin's sons Phineas, Samuel and John had married and created homesteads of their own in Sedgwick.

Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line:
Removed the info that Sarah Lord was daughter of Jeremiah Lord from the bio because it was incorrect. According to DAR, she married William Davis rather than Samuel Friend. FindAGrave headstone also shows a different birthdate for Sarah Lord (not the daughter of Jeremiah Lord) than the birthdate for Sarah Lord, daughter of Jeremiah.
Friend-1810 and Friend-1482 appear to represent the same person because: Samuel's birth date was recorded in both Sedgwick and Blue Hill records but was likely born elsewhere. He probably did not die in the Sedgwick Rural Cemetery.
