Biography

Samuel was born in 1827. [1] He m1 Apr 16, 1851, Susan A. Wing; m2 1865, Mary F. House who died May 3 1914. [2] He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Wayne, Kennebec County, Maine [3]

Research Notes

His first wife died in 1863. Using the 1860 and 1870 Census records, there is evidence of a second wife for Samuel Frost (since children of the 1860 census (Chester, Salome Rosa, Mary) are with him in 1870). The second wife is likely Mary F. House, marriage intention published July 8, 1865 in Wayne, Maine. (Samuel A. Frost of Winthrop and Mary F. House of Wayne).

This is important because of the existence of 2 stones in Evergreen Cemetery (Wayne, Maine) for a person named Samuel A. Frost. (1) findagrave 83832187. Samuel A. Frost 1827-1890 (2) findagrave 112913590. Samuel A. Frost 1827-1891. [4] It seems the second stone pertains to his second marriage and some of the children from that marriage.

1860 US Census (Monmouth, Kennebec, Maine) shows a household with Samuel A. Frost (33), Susan A. Frost (24). Under age children are: Chester (7), Salome R (4), Mary (1).

1870 US Census (Monmouth, Kennebec, Maine) shows a household with Saml Frost (42), Mary F. Frost (26), Richard Frost (79). Under age children are: Chester (16), Rosa (13), Mary (10), Willie (9), Samuel (4), Augustus (3), Oliver (1). 1860

The 1870 census entry for Richard Frost (79) is a good indication that this Samuel A. Frost is the son of Richard Frost (born 1791). But, it is worth mentioning the marriage of a Samuel Frost and Patience Stetson on 20 Apr 1820 at Wayne, Maine. Some trees have Samuel and Patience as the father of Samuel A. Frost (b 1827).
