Esta Mae Fulcher was born on September 9, 1914, in Runnels County, Texas. She was the daughter of Charlie Manuel Fulcher and his wife Lidie Ellen Wimberley Fulcher. Her maternal grandparents were Andrew Jackson Wimberley and Fanny B. Tanner Wimberley. Her great-grandparents were Pleasant Wimberley and Amanda Julian Jackson Wimberley.
Esta was the first-born of her parents' five children. All five children were girls, and two died as infants while the family was living in Runnels County. At some time after 1930, Charlie and Lidie and their three daughters moved to Tom Green County.
When she was about 21, Esta married 22-year-old Woodrow "Woody" Worth Leonard. The couple had three sons, Charles D., James and David Neal Leonard.
Esta died on October 18, 1988, in San Angelo, Tom Green County. She was survived by her husband and three sons. She was buried in Fairmount Cemetery. Her sisters Charlotte "Pete" Fulcher Rogers and Doris "Dot" Gwen Fulcher Wood are also buried in Fairmount Cemetery not far from Esta.
