Biography

Lydia Fuller was born to Shubael Fuller and Hannah Crocker on 1 Sep 1709, in East Haddam, Connecticut Colony. Her father Shubael descends from Mayflower passengers Edward Fuller, his wife, and their son Samuel. Edward Fuller is his great grandfather. Her mother, Hannah, descends from John Howland, his wife Elizabeth Tilley, and her parents, John Tilley and Joan Hurst, all also Mayflower passengers. John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley are Hannah Crocker’s great grandparents.

Lydia Fuller has another noteworthy connection. She is the great grandmother of Joseph Smith Jr, founder of the Mormon Church. Her daughter, Lydia Gates married Solomon Mack, and their daughter Lucy Mack married Joseph Smith. Their son was Joseph Smith Jr.

Lydia Fuller and Daniel Gates were parents of seven children. Lydia died 14 Aug 1778 in East Haddam and is buried there in Old Cove Burying Ground. Find a Grave memorial # 177417726. Her husband predeceased her by several years.
