Biography

Ezekiel Fuller was born in about 1675 in Newport Parish, Isle of Wight County, Virginia.[1] He married Deborah Spivey in Nansemond County, Virginia in about 1699 and they had 12 children.[1] Their children are: Ezekiel Fuller, Solomon Fuller, Henry Fuller, Martha Fuller, Ann Fuller, Honor Fuller, Benjamin Fuller, John Fuller, Joseph Fuller, Arthur Fuller, Mary Fuller, and Timothy Fuller.

He died in about 1723 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia.[2]

Unknown/Disputed Parents

According to researcher John Beattie Fuller "We may never factually determine Ezekiel's parents through any existing public documentation. There may exist pages of a family bible, very early church records, shreads of correspondence, personal notes, or something which may give us an insight into the early foundations of this Fuller family. The same may hold true with regards to Ezekiel's and Deborah's marriage which this researcher believes to have occurred in Nansemond County, Virginia about 1699 although there has not been any documentation, to knowledge, found to either confirm or refute this belief."[3]

John Fuller speculates based on extensive research that Samuel Fuller (not William Fuller) was Ezekiel's father. [4]

"My mom's cousin, Cheryl, got back to me a little while ago via Facebook. Here is the information she sent me.: The green book is the one I recently purchased from John Fuller. I will post the 2 pages that reference our specific family. The blue book is a 2nd edition I purchased from Kay Fuller Mitchell. The 1st edition of this one was by Kay's father Colonel Theodore Albert Fuller. The green has more on our group than the blue. I will post a pic of those 3 pages. From what I have seen thus far Ezekiel's origins are unknown and unproven so any names of his parents are only a guess. Just read the pages of 5, 6, and 7 from John Fuller's book. Very helpful information."

"Margaret Fabiani says that John Fuller of Morganton, GA says Ezekiel is definitely NOT the son of Puritan Gov. William Fuller. Gov. Fuller never lived in Isle of Wight although he did visit there. There is a strong possibility that Samuel Fuller who immigrated to Isle of Wight before 25 April 1667 was Ezekiel's father."Probably a carpenter and also a Quaker.""Early Southern Fullers," by Theodore Albert Fuller, 1966,More About EZEKIEL FULLER:Fact 1: 1711, Witns. DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Ezekiel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Ezekiel:

The Spivey family still is extant in Isle of Wight and Nansemond Cos., VA: Both the Spivey Construction Co., and Spivey Sanitiation Co, at least about 7 years ago, were still operational in Virginia Beach, VA. As you all most likely know, Ezekiel Fuller married Deborah Spivey, of Nansemond, VA.

John, Thank you for the reply about the grave head stone, Samuel Fuller, and.... Greatly appreciate it. One of my mom's cousins has your books. Usually I go to her if I have any questions about our Fullers. Been very helpful. Sincerely, Patti.

Before a reader becomes more confused, permit me to advise that the recently identified grave head stone mentioned which shows a Fuller family line starting with Samuel Fuller is the family line of John Beattie Fuller who at this date is still living. I had this stone so engraved a couple of years ago for my site and thought it would be of some future interest. Little did I know that such an interest currently would create what might be considered genealogical proof of lineage. Not so. Samuel Fuller is my personal opinion with regards to Ezekiel's father.

My books on Ezekiel Fuller sold out several years ago; however, they may be reviewed through the Library of Congress as well as the LDS library in Salt Lake City, NV. John Beattie Fuller

Ezekiel Fuller (1722) is my 9th great grandfather. My understanding is that Samuel might be Ezekiel's father. Wonder who paid for the headstone? That might be the person to contact for more information.

I am a descendant of Ezekiel and trying to find his parents. I came across this headstone that matches the dates of Ezekiel and his son Solomon and so forth. The top of the headstone states Samuel 1640 - UK. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/111662949/samuel-fuller

If anyone has any additional information about Samuel 1640, I would really appreciate if you could share.

Don't know why Sarah was added as mother. This one slipped by me. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

I will fix it because...

Extensive research - nothing that connects Ezekiel Fuller to William Fuller and Sarah Martiau. According to researcher John Beattie Fuller "We may never factually determine Ezekiel's parents through any existing public documentation. There may exist pages of a family bible, very early church records, shreds of correspondence, personal notes, or something which may give us an insight into the early foundations of this Fuller family."

Why is Sarah Martiau shown as the mother of Ezekiel Fuller? She is clearly the wife of William Fuller as shown in her father's will and in other documents???

Kirsten, Your date for Ezekiel's birth is unrealistic and much to early. Fuller 1150 a much more likely date for his birth. There is no evidence to prove either however.

Fuller-1150 and Fuller-4230 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate, though birth year is different.

The errors in this entry, in my opinion are as follows:

Ezekiel's father was not Capt. William Fuller, nor was his mother Sarah Jane Martiau Fuller. His brothers and sisters listed are incorrect. His wife was Deborah Spivey, proven. He and Deborah had 12 children. Ezekiel II is missing from the listing. In my opinion Ezekiel's father was the English immigrant Samuel Fuller who entered IOW VA in 1667 under the sponsorship of Mr. Robert Coleman. John B. Fuller
