Biography

Cross of St George
Judith (Fuller) Soane was born in England.

GrGrGrandmother of Thomas Jefferson 3rd US President

Judith was christened at St Clements, Hastings, Sussex on 22 Jan 1614,[1] the daughter of John Fuller and Mary Brabon.[2] Both were deceased by 1624 when her grandfather wrote his will. Thomas Brabon specified that Judith and her brother were to be brought up and educated by their aunt and uncle, Benjamin and Martha Slutter. After reaching the age of majority, they were to receive the "overplus of the yearly rent and profit of the said messuages and lands." She was also to receive 4 £ upon turning twenty-one years of age.[3][4]

Her uncle, Richard Braban, also left her 10 £ in his will proved in 1632.[3]

A Judith Fuller of Southover married Henry Soane[5] of Litlington on 17 Feb 1643.[6] The Jefferson geneaologist, Dabney McClean, and County Archivist of East Sussex, Roger Davey, concluded that Judith Fuller of Hastings and Judith Fuller of Southover were the same person.[7]

The exact date of travel to America is unknown, but it occurred before Nov 1651 when Henry patented 297 acres on the east side of the Chicohominy River in James City County, commonly called Hoggs Land. Credit was given to him for transporting six persons: "Henry Soane, Senr., Henry Soane, Junr., Judeth Soane, Senr., Judeth Soane, Junr., John Soane, Eliza. Soane."[9] A headright of 50 acres was given for each person transported.[10]

Judeth was a widow on 26 Mar 1666 when she patented 450 acres of land in James City County on the north side of the James River. She had received credit for the transportation of nine people: "Wm. Neale, Jno. Store, Wm. Watson, Jno. Watson, Mary Hosier, Peter Neale, Jno. Stuart, Wm. Smart, Andrew Rider."[11]

In reviewing profiles that have been PPP'ed for some time, I'm just checking in on this one-- is there any need for continued project protection?

I removed it, from my notes it was put on before we had the sources to support parents, etc.

Thanks, Robin. Do we still need any project co-management of this profile?

Nice work on this profile Kerry!

Fuller-8161 and Fuller-670 appear to represent the same person because: Same lineage. I adopted a disconnected Brabon/Fuller line. After working on it, it's ready to merge into the main tree. I would prefer to handle the merge edit.
