Came to Australia with her mother and siblings on 27th July 1855 on "Exodus" when she was around 9 years old. The "Exodus" was out of Livepool in charge of Captain Owen Evans.
Her cousins Archibald Porteous, and James Dunsmore were witnesses at her wedding.
Lived at "Rockeagle" Donnelly St Balmain from around 1898 to about 1909. She moved to College St, Drummoyne, when her son Alexander married. John Love married Janet’s sister-in-law, Ellen Crichton Welsh (nee Smith) and Janet lived with them at Eastwood
