Biography

I was born in 1965.The fifth child born to George and Shirley. I am the only child who was not born in St. Louis. I dropped out of high school in 1982 and became a mother. I had two children at age 20 Joseph M. and Samuel J. It was about the time Sam was born I discovered my love for writing poetry, although I just recently allowed anyone to read any of my writing. My husband asked several times for us to be married but I refused. I did not want anyone having to give us permission and repeatedly told him we would wed after I was 21 but only on a Friday the 13th (truly that is my sense of humor). My reasoning was if we ever divorced I could blame the date not him or I. We were wed June 13, 1986. I received my G.E.D. in 1991 and A.S. in 1994. I have worked as a gas station attendant pumping gas checking oil and weighing trucks, a prison guard, cleaning houses, dish washer, store clerk and a bottle maker at Flat River Glass. I currently spend most of my time on wiki filling in the family tree. I am fortunate in that I had relatives on paternal and maternal lines who had done a tremendous amount of work. I merely need to find sources for the first 4 generations on paternal side. Maternal side came with a scanned version of my 4th times great grandfather Minister Jesse Underwood's Family Bible which has been tremendously helpful.

Hi Rebekah, a couple of weeks ago I sent out a check-in for the US Civil War Project, this is just a quick reminder to let me know if you intend to remain in the Project. Hope to hear from you soon. I'll assume your not interested if I don't hear back from you by the end of February. Thank you.

Hi Rebekah, I just wanted to thank you for all the work you've done to improve the US Civil War Between the States Project. I'm doing a check-in with all project members and wanted to verify that you're still interested in being a member of the project. Also, any suggestions for the Project would be welcome. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Shirley Dalton, WikiTree Mentor

Hi Rebekah,

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! This certification requires participation in a project related to the profiles you wish to edit. Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Also, check out our Volunteer Hub to see our projects that really need new members!

Let me know! I can help you figure out if there's a project and introduce you to the project leaders. Welcome aboard!

Hi Rebekah,

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree. Thank you for volunteering, and I wish you luck connecting to your Gaddys, Geddes and Tweedys!

Have fun and ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.

If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.

See you in the branches --

Margaret

Rebekah,

Hello and welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you've ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you'd like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you'll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you'll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We're really glad you're here.
