Biography

Malinda (also spelled Melinda) was born in Arkansas in 1843. She was the daughter of James Gage and Lucretia Wood. She married Stephen Howard in 1862 and they had nine children, five girls and four boys, all born in Arkansas. Stephen and Malinda moved to Oklahoma in 1903. Malinda died there in 1930, about five months after her husband's death.[1] Malinda's granddaughter Ruby (Ball) Spradlin recalled that she was a big woman who frightened her because she was loud and yelled a lot.
