Theodore Gaillard was a Planter. He was the son of Barthelemy (Bartholomew) and Elizabeth Gaillard of St. James Santee Parish, Province of South Carolina.[1]

  1. Elizabeth, daughter of Noe Serre, by whom he had children John, Theodore, Samuel, Charles, Elizabeth (m. Job Marion), and Catherine (m. Elias Ball)
  2. Lydia Peyre, who is mentioned in his will.[3] They had children David, Peter, and Lydia (m. John Dutarque)

  • Wambaw Plantation, residence, 1450 acres, to son John
  • Lands in St. Stephens Parish, 1400 acres, residence of son Peter, to son Peter (Heyden Hill Plantation)

Death

Theodore Gaillard died in 1781. He wrote his will 16 Mar 1781 and it was proven 7 Jul 1781. [3] So he died sometime between those dates.

Family member believes that he died at his plantation, Wambaw, and was later interred at St. Philips.

Place: St James Santee, South Carolina, between the months of March and July

Slaves

Theodore Gaillard was a slaveholder. His will,[3] and probate inventory in 1784[4] named and valued the slaves on his Wambaw plantation at his death. The second part of his inventory may be the slaves on the St. Stephens plantation.

In his will Theodore Gaillard states "I give my man Frank his freedom".[3]
