Biography

9 Nov 1862 is date of her christening. Source: Gajafsky family history compiled by Joan Degner of Katy, Texas. She was the daughter of Anton Gajafsky and Anna Christina Degner.[1] Her father was Polish and her mother was German.

The Gajafsky Family History (unsourced) says that "sisters were Mrs. Augusta Pada and Otilia Beyersdorf--called Tina."

The sister who married Wilhelm Friedrich Beyersdorf was Albertine Antonie, called Tina. I have not found evidence that she was named Ottilia.

She immigrated to the U.S. after an older brother sent money back to have the younger siblings emigrate. She met and married Wilhelm (William) Beyersdorf in Menominee, MI 25 Jun 1882.[2]

This family is not found in the 1900 Census in Menominee, Michigan, but Edward Beyersdorf, brother of William, is found there.

In 1910 the Beyersdorf family was living in Menominee, Michigan.

[3]

She died on Aug 20, 1913, quite suddenly, leaving behind her husband and eleven children.

Research Notes

The Tina or Tena Beyersdorf who resided in Milwaukee per the U S Censuses of 1900, 1910 and 1920 was not LNAB Gajafsky. This was Albertina Flemming, sister-in-law, who married William's brother Edward Beyersdorf.

1900 Census: Edward Beyersdorf age 32 b WI; Tina Beyersdorf age 26 b Germany; Arthur Beyersdorf age 6 b WI; Lillie Beyersdorf age 5 b WI; Edna Beyersdorf age 3 b WI. [4]

1910 Census: Edward Beyersdorf age 42 b WI; Tena Beyersdorf age 36 b Germany; Arthur Beyersdorf age 16 b WI; Lillian Beyersdorf age 14 b WI; Edna Beyersdorf age 13 b WI; Clarence Beyersdorf age 7 b WI; Charles Beyersdorf age 3 b WI [5]

Edward Beyersdorf age 51 b WI; Tena Beyersdorf age 46 b Pomerania as were parents; Arthur Beyersdorf age 26 b WI; Clarence Beyersdorf age 17 b WI; Charlie Beyersdorf age 11 b WI; Allen Beyersdorf age 5 b WI; George Beyersdorf age 5 b WI [6]

from FindAGrave: [7]

Tena, wife of Edward, was born Albertina Flemming [8]

It makes one wonder what information was available at the time the censuses were consulted, i.e., was it known that the daughter's name was Otilia? Was this person chosen to fit the profile because she was b 1874 in Germany? Or because her married surname resembled Beyersdorf?

Another possibility is Ottilie Bewersdorf of the 1920 through 1930 Censuses.1920: Rudolph Bewersdorf age 52 b Germany; Ottilie age 45 b Germany; Irvin age 16 b IL; Carl age 14 b IL; Alice age 10 b IL: Lillian age 9 b IL; Dorothey age 0 b IL[9]

1930 Census: Rudolf Bewersdorf age 62 b Germany; Ottilie Bewersdorf age 55 b Germany; Carl Bewersdorf son age 24 b IL: Chaterine Bewersdorf daughter in law age 26 b IL: Alice Bewersdorf age 21 dau b IL; Lillian Bewersdorf dau age 20 b IL; Dorothy Bewersdorf dau age 10 b IL[10]

1940 Census: Rudolph age 72 b Germany; Ottilie age 65 b Germany; Ervin age 37 b IL; Dorothy age 21 b IL[11] This Ottilie, wife of Rudolph, had the LNAB Henschel.[12]

Another possibility: Otylia Gajewski, wife of Seweryn Korytowski, mother of Daniel Seweryn Korytowski.

But this Otylia was born in Illinois in 1910. [13] Husband : Seweryn Korytowski

1930 Census: Severine age 24 b PA; Ottilie age 20 b IL [14]
