US Congressman. He studied law, was admitted to the bar, and established a practice in Amherst County, Virginia. After serving in both the Virginia House of Delegates and State Senate, he was elected as a Democratic-Republican to Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Wilson Cary Nicholas. He served in Congress from 1810 to 1811 and returned to Virginia, where he again served in the House of Delegates. (bio by: Garver Graver)
