Biography

‘Mamie’ was born May 10th 1890 in Virginia. She was named after her mother's aunt, Mary Dent. She married Charles Calvin Thayer November 11th 1910 in Washington DC. Charles was born July 12th 1891 in DC. They had 5 children.

Charles was a DC Metro police officer with the 6th District, who died of a heart attack March 4th 1945. He is buried in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia.

‘’Mamie’ then married Walter Dodd and moved to Alexandria. Walter died of a coronary occulsion March 17th 1959, and is also buried in Cedar Hill.

After Walter’s death, Mamie moved back to Colonial Beach. She stayed there until she was force to move to the Virginia Baptist Home in Culpeper, where she died, Christmas day 1975, at the age of 85. She is buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, Maryland.
