Jane (Unknown) Boatman migrated from England to Virginia.
Jane was from England and had first married Mr. Garrard.[1] After his death, she married Bengamin Doggett on 21 Sep 1664.[2][3][4] She is described as being young when she married Benjamin so we can be confident that she was born between 1636 and 1644.[4]
Jane and Benjamin had seven children. Benjamin died circa 1682/3 and Jane later married John Boatman.[5]
Research Notes
There are some some family trees that claim GARRARD is the maiden name of Jane and that her parents are Edward and Jane (Luson) Garrard. None of these trees has any source for such an assertion but this is something that ought to be examined in the hopes that it can be confirmed or denied.[6] It would also be grand were one able to confirm that there was or was not a first marriage to a Mr. Garrard and, if so, the first name and any other particulars of that man.
There are two other profiles that are or have been linked as daughter of Edward and Jane Garrad: Garrard-30 and :Garrad-29. Requests to merge these two have been rejected although it does appear they are the duplicates. Likewise, there have been requests to merge Garrad-29 with this profile and this has also been rejected. It might be tempting for some to believe all three represent the same person, it is also possible that they are two or three unique persons. The case of Garrad-29 is interesting in that the link to the parents was removed and data from the marriage Benjamin Doggett to Jane (Unknown) Garrard.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jane by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jane:
There's no reason why Garrad-29 & Unknown-450746 shouldn't be merged. Garrad-29 has no family attachments nor sources to cause any future confusion. Since it's not going to create any conflicts and it should be merged.
I understand your thoughts but it can be argued either way. I tend to think the Garrad and Garrard ladies should be merged as an undocumented child of Ed andGarrard and his wife and not linked to Ben Doggett.
The other duplicate of Unknown-450746 is Jane Garrard. Please can we clarify how we manage that one? My preference would be to detach her from her incorrect parents and merge her with this profile. She is also unsourced and was originally created as wife of Benjamin Doggett. The parents are sourced but there is no record of a daughter named Jane. Once we sort out these two duplicates, the line will be straightened out. Both duplicates would be merged into the details on Unknown-450746 which are sourced. Thanks for your assistance.
Hi Thom, I appreciate your concern to do the correct thing. The way to deal with a duplicate entry of whatever quality is to merge it. Please see these links which come up when I searched from Garrad-29 using the RootsSearch tool on WikiTree. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:2:38Q6-5NW and https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:2:36ZM-24R. You can try it yourself - you'll find the family tree links at the end of the page. Although the gedcom seems have been corrupted when the profile was first imported (I've struck that before), it appears that Garrad-29 was created and intended as the wife of Benjamin Doggett. For this reason, the most appropriate solution is to merge it with Unknown-450746. Please get back to me if you want to discuss further, otherwise I'll repropose. Thanks
Garrad-29 and Unknown-450746 do not represent the same person because: When Garrad-29 was first created, she was linked to a father and mother who were both women and both born in the late 19th century. It is true that Garrad-29 also had a current name of Doggett but reference to Benjamin Doggett other than someone subsequently adding him as a spouse and later removing him. It seems that Garrad-29 is just a trash entry and should be deleted.
Garrad-29 and Unknown-450746 appear to represent the same person because: Hi Thom and Michelle, please could you consider this merge again. Garrad-29 appears to be a corrupted duplicate of Unknown-450746. From post on profile of Garrad-29 and changes menu, she was connected as wife of Benjamin Doggett in 2014. She was uploaded as part of an unsourced tree, and with the work that has been done on Unknown-450746 it is now clear that Garrad, or versions of this surname, are not the correct LNAB. Thanks for helping to clean up this line.
The other profile doesn't need sources in order to be a duplicate. There are no family connections to cause issues with the merge. These two profiles do appear to be duplicates.
Garrad-29 and Unknown-450746 do not represent the same person because: Garrad-29 is unsourced. The maiden name of GARRAD is similar to the married name of Unknown-450746 but do not match. There are no sources nor parents, spouses, or children connected. That both Janes were born i England and died in Virginia at the same approximate dates is not sufficient for a match.
Garrad-29 and Unknown-450746 appear to represent the same person because: These seem to be duplicates. Garrd-29 has no profiles connected. Unknown is the preferred LNAB. Thanks for reviewing.
