Biography

Leander was born in 1818. He is the son of Adam Garren and Unknown Cherokee.[1][2]

On the 21 Apr 1836 in Blount, Tennessee, Leander married Savilla Hobbs.[3] In about 1858, Leander marries second, Margaret Coppinger.

Shot on Old Federal Road. ? Killed after war in retaliation for fighting?

He and his father (Adam Garren) served in the war with Mexico where he received a leg injury. He served the CSA and was shot and killed on the Old Federal Road in Monroe County which was built by the US government through the Cherokee Nation to gain better access to the Creek Indians. He was carried to the home of his sister (Susan Garren Patterson) where he died.

Leander passed away in 1865.[1]
