He was the son of Spills Garrett and Elizabeth Smith.
According to a May 27, 2000 interview with Morris & Violet GARRETT, Mary Lee Gentry was Reuben's wife.
US GenWeb's Stainer Cemetery page says Martha Lee Gentry was married to R. Garrett.
