Biography

Peter Garrison was a son of a Huguenot emigrant (1540-1790).

Peter Garrison was born about 1676 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, to Jacob Garrison, b: 1646 in Nieuw Amsterdam, and Christina (Cresson) Garrison, b: 1641 in Zeeland, Netherlands. She was a French Huguenot emigrant to New Netherland that became New York.

Children

  1. David Garrison, b. 1716, Lancaster, Pennsylvania d. 1790, Mecklenburg, North Carolina
  2. Esther Garrison Sample, b. 1717, Maryland d. 1803, Mecklenburg, North Carolina
  3. Arthur Garrison, b. 1717, Salem, New Jersey, d. 1815, Fairfield, South Carolina

Peter was born about 1676 in New York. Peter passed away about 1747.

According to Phyllis Miller's article "The Garrison-Gerritsen Descendants of Gerrit Jansen Van Oldenburg Alias Gerrit De Mof", Peter Garrison b 1676 is likely the same Peter Garrison whose will was probated 1747 in Antrim, Lancaster Co, PA.

Peter, b. about 1676, named for Christina’s father, was perhaps the same as Peter Garrison who died in 1747 in Lancaster Co., Pa. His will written 13 Mar. 1746/7, was proved 22 Oct. 1747 (Lancaster Co. Wills 1:155-56). Peter lived in ”Entrim” Twp. He named his wife Sarah and nine children: David‘, John, Susan. Deborah, Arther, Peter, Esther and the two youngest James and Phebe. The last five children were not yet of age. The executors were his wife and David Rees.[1]

Garrison-2697 and Garrison-2027 appear to represent the same person because: Hi, I have been doing some research on Peter Garrison. According to Phyllis Miller's 1993 paper, Peter was the son of Jacob Garrison and Christina / Christiana Cresson.

Previously, the Peter whose profile is the father of Arthur Garrison was mistakenly attached as a son of Jacob Garrison (Jr), Garrison-1261. According to Phyllis, Jacob Garrison Jr never had a son named Peter.

Would much appreciate these two duplicate profiles to be merged so I can continue to expand the children of Peter Garrison and Sarah Rees.

It seems odd and unlikely that the three children of Peter Garrison are so close in age, but all born in different places.
Garrison-2027 and Garrison-5092 appear to represent the same person because: These are clearly duplicates to me as I have been working on this line today and they appear a match. For whatever reason, the spouse is showing as an UNmerged match

Garrison-2698 and Garrison-2697 appear to represent the same person because: clear duplicate. Same manager and death.
