Biography
Anna was born in 1734. Information about her comes from a Mennonite record and a correction of that record. The record shows John Showalter married Esther Funk. However, a correction reads as follows:
Problems with this Mennonite record: Esther Funck, the daughter of the Mennonite Bishop, was a cripple and as far as we know could not and never had children. It is believed that John's first wife was Anna Garver (1734-1774) and we believe they were married around 1753. The one missing child from the Mennonite list of John's children was Henry Garver Showalter (1766-1841). It stands to reason that Henry Garver's mother was a Garver. Why isn't he listed with a Garver mother? It is believed that after Anna died, John Showalter married Esther Funck around 1777.
