1683 Birth and Parents

The birth of Capt. Thomas Gassaway on 20 FEB 1683 is recorded in the parish register of All Hallow's, along with those of his grandchildren by his son John Gassaway, but this may be a transcription error.[1] Thomas was named an executor of his father's will so was likely born before 1670 and was over 21 when his father died. He was the son of Nicholas Gassaway and his wife Anne Besson and is mentioned in the 1691 will of his father to have a legacy of land.[2]

Thomas Gassaway was born 20 Feb 1683 in Anne Arundel County Maryland. He was the son of Nicholas Gassaway, born 11 March 1634 in St. Margaret's parish, Westminster, London, and died 27 Jan 1691 in St. Anne's Parish, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. (Probate). His mother was Anne Besson, born about 1646 in Anne Arundel County, dsied after 1691. They were married before 1668 in Anne Arundel County. [3]
