A baseball enthusiast and player. He is mentioned in many articles in the Yorkville Enquirer during his school career as a pitcher. He is also listed as the Manager/player of a county Baseball team. His Baseball nickname? "Toots"[1]

Carl suffered some injuries after a car wreck in 1921.[2]
