Biography

Johannes (John) Geiger was born February 18, 1780 in Reamstown, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was a son of Bernhart Geiger and Anna Maria Schmidt.

Marriage

John married Maria Schoch on December 16, 1806 in Harrisburg, Dauphin, Pennsylvania.[1] Together they had the following children: Sarah, George S., John Bernard, Maria Rebecca, Amanda Elizabeth, Joseph H., Samuel Shoch and Malvina Louisa.

Death

Johannes (John) Geiger died July 11, 1864 in Harrisburg, Dauphin, Pennsylvania. He was buried in Harrisburg Cemetery in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.[6]

Last Will and Testament

In the name of God amen, I John Geiger of the city of Harrisburg, Dauphin County and State of Pennsylvania being of sound mind memory and understanding Be thanked good for the same Do ____ the following as my last will and testament namely ______ ______ I give and bequeath the same of one hundred dollars to my grand daughter, Sarah E. Wilson Item I give and bequeath onto the three children of my son George who are now living the sum of fifty dollars each said bequests to remain in the care of their father as guardian and to bear interest during that respect as minorities. Item I give and bequeath unto my Grandson John G. Ingram the sum maintained and contained in a county bond which is now paid and the proceeds thereof now invested by his father as guardian and to be kept at interests during his minority. Item I given and bequeath unto Mary G. Unger (?) a daughter of my granddaughter Annie and Elias Unger (?) the sum of one hundred dollars to be at interest during her minority. Item I give and bequeath all my household furniture unto my daughter Malvina _______ ________ notice or account thereof _________ at my request she should accord to each one of my other children and representatives some certain article or articles as a token of remembrance if denied. Item I give and bequeath all my real estate being the same now occupied by me unto my daughter Malvina Ingram at and for the sum of four thousand dollars which sum shall be paid one year after my decease without interest share (?) and share (?) alike in the said four thousand dollars to and with the other heirs But she to pay the repairs and taxes herself during and for said year. The said Malvina shall be entitled to receive during and for said year so much out of the _____ for the store room as will pay said repairs and taxes and any supplies (?) of rents shall be accounted for. Item all my outstanding money shall immediately after my decease or as soon ________ can be collected and all special bequests shall be paid thereof and the residual shall then be equally divided to and among my five children or to their representatives. Item one full share of which I give and bequeath unto the children of my daughter Sarah now dead namely John, James and Sarah E. Wilson and I hereby _____ the father of the said Sarah E. as the trustee during the minority which share shall be equally divided to and among said ______ children. Item one full and equal share I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph shall place at interest the sum of six hundred dollars at interest for his daughter Eliza and to be her guardian during her minority. Item one full and equal share I give and bequeath unto my daughter Malvina. Item one full and equal share I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Anne Elinger (?). Item lastly I hereby ______ my daughter Malvina Ingram to be my ______ of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills and declaring this and no other to be my last will and testament and ______ that my said executive shall receive the sum of two hundred dollars in full for all services as executive of this my last will and testament. __________ _________ I have here unto by my hand seal the twenty sixth day of October one thousand eight hundred and sixty three.[7]
