Biography

Melissa George, 1853-1878, was born in Knox, Knox, Illinois, the daughter of Malita McDonald and Ellis B. George. In 1860, Melissa was 8, attending school, and lived on her family’s farm in Chestnut Township, Knox, Illinois. In 1870, the George family lived on their farm in Chestnut Township, Illinois. Melissa George died, aged 24 years, five months, and 27 days, on 7 August 1878. She is buried with family at Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, Nebraska. Note: FindAGrave shows her birth date in error as 1854. She was born in 1853. ^{[4] [5]}
