Tryntje, daughter of Gerrit Gerritsen Focken and Jacomijntje (Jacomyntje) Cornelisdr, was born in 1671. Her father Gerrit died in 1672 and her mother remarried: to Jan R. Eltinge and to Jans Barentsen Kunst, which explains why Tryntje is variously given as Tryntje Gerritsen Focken, Tryntje Barensten Focken, and Tryntje Eltinge.
Although the marriage date is still uncertain (1692 in New Paltz [1] or March 2, 1688), it appears all of the wives of Solomon Du Bois were the same Tryntje.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Tryntje by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Tryntje:
Eltynge-1 and Gerrits-377 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest maternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge into the patronymic NNS PPP. No tree conflicts. Thanks! Merging into the patronymic that appears in church records, Eltynge is apparently her stepfather's surname.
When did Solomon and Tryntje marry? I think it must have been before the birth (christening?) of their son Isaac 25 Sep 1691. I have the date 2 Mar 1688/89, but I can't say where I got it and you've pointed out that New Netherlands used the Gregorian, not Julian, calendar. I need to study that. The decision about which calendar to use was largely a religious one. Surely the Spanish Netherlands (DuBois homeland) switched in 1582, but the United Provinces and New Netherland were Protestant. Hmmmm.
I don't know whether Tryntje adopted her husband's surname or not. While the DuBois family was Walloon (sort of French), these Protestant Walloons had left their homeland and by this generation were very much part of the New Netherland community.
Kimball - I'd forgotten that Dutch women didn't take their husband's names, and I'd changed Tryntje's current name to DuBois (I've changed it back now). But... should it be DuBois, since he wasn't Dutch?
