Edward Giffin was born December 30, 1761, the son of Simon Giffin and Abigail Higgins of Hardwick, Worcester, Massachusetts[1][2][3]
On December 3, 1780, he married Abigail Holmes, daughter of Nathaniel Holmes[3][4][5] in Bennington, Vermont, and they had children, including:
Abigail, born August 30, 1781; who married Gilbert Mansfield on January 3, 1799, and who died December 4, 1817
David, born in Clarendon Vermont, April 24, 1783[6], who married Sarah Wheeler[7], and Almira Pierce[8][9], and died in Crary Mills, NY on August 3, 1865
Mary (called Polly), who was born April 18, 1785, who married Paul Giffin, son of John Giffin
Sarah (called Sally) who was born March 15, 1788, and married James Place
Joseph, born in Georgia, Vermont February 19, 1790, and died 11 March of that year
Salinda, born January 10, 1790, who married John Wheeler
Lucy, born in Georgia, Vermont February 22, 1794, who married Luther Parish on September 3, 1814, and who died June 29, 1825
Nathaniel, born in Georgia, Vermont October 12, 1796, who was married in 1818, and died without children in Potsdam, NY (He appears with David and Elmira in the 1850 Census above)
Ann, born July 30, 1798, who married David Giffin[10], son of David
He lived in Bennington, Vermont when he enlisted in the Militia during the Revolutionary War, fought under Captain Isaac Tichenor, and was ordered to Saratoga by Col. Eben Walbridge (August 1781) [3]'
He then moved to Georgia Vermont, before the 1790 Census

He was a deacon in the First Congregational Church, in Georgia Vermont[3] from 1806 to 1812, when he moved to St. Lawrence County, NY, settling near his brother David's farm. The 1830 Census shows Edward and Abigail in New York[13][14]
Edward Giffin died October 12, 1830 in Oswegatchie, St Lawrence, New York, USA[3], and is buried on the Giffin Farm, owned by his brother David.
