Biography

John Gill was born in 1747 in Armagh, Ireland as the 5th child of parents Robert Gill and Ellanor Kelsey Kelso. His father was Captain of the ship Charming Molly. The family immigrated to The New World in 1773 when John was about age 21.

He married Nancy Agnes Dick about 1781. Together they had 2 children: Robert Gill and Samuel Gill. He died in 1792 in Chester County, South Carolina.
