Plastic surgery pioneer especially repairing catastrophic facial injuries
Harold was born in 1882. He was the son of Robert Gillies and Emily Street. He passed away in 1960. Harold Gillies was a pioneer of plastic surgery - especially repairing catastrophic facial injuries. His knowledge was passed on to a relative Archibald McIndoe of New Zealand who was recruited by the RAF who were preparing in 1939 for catastrophic burn injuries. [1]
